This Privacy Policy explains how Apex Subscriptions (“Apex Subscriptions”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when merchants install or use the Apex Subscriptions app (the “App”) on their Shopify store.

Apex Subscriptions is designed to help Shopify merchants create and manage subscription selling plans, display subscription purchase options on product pages, support recurring orders, and view subscription-related information.

By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

When a merchant installs and uses Apex Subscriptions, we may access or process the following types of information from the merchant’s Shopify store, depending on the features being used and the permissions approved during installation:

Merchant and Store Information

We may collect store-related information such as:

Store name
Store domain
Shopify shop ID
Store email address
Store locale and currency
App installation status
App configuration settings

Product and Selling Plan Information

We may access and process product-related data so the App can create and manage subscription purchase options, including:

Product titles
Product IDs
Variant IDs
Prices
Images
Selling plan groups
Selling plans
Subscription widget configuration
Product page display settings

Customer and Subscription Information

Where required for subscription functionality, billing attempts, subscription contract management, analytics, and merchant support, we may access or process limited customer and subscription-related information, including:

Order Information

We do not sell merchant, customer, order, product, or subscription data.

3. Customer Data

Apex Subscriptions may process customer data only where necessary to provide subscription functionality to the merchant.

This may include supporting subscription contracts, recurring billing attempts, subscription analytics, customer subscription management, and related merchant support.

We only process customer data for the merchant’s benefit and in connection with the App’s subscription features. We do not use customer data for unrelated marketing, advertising, profiling, or resale.

4. Shopify Permissions

The App may request access to Shopify permissions that are necessary for its features to work correctly.

These permissions may include access to products, orders, customers, customer payment method references, selling plans, subscription contracts, metaobjects, and other Shopify resources required for subscription management.

The exact permissions requested may vary depending on the App version and Shopify’s requirements.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information or merchant data.

We may share limited information only in the following situations:

With service providers that help us operate, host, monitor, secure, and support the App
With Shopify, where required by Shopify’s platform, APIs, app review process, or compliance requirements
When required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request
To protect the rights, security, and integrity of our App, merchants, customers, or systems
In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where permitted by law

Any service providers we use are only permitted to process information as needed to provide services to us.

6. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards to protect the information we process.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect merchant and customer information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and support legitimate business purposes.

When a merchant uninstalls the App, we will stop actively collecting new store data through the App. We may retain limited information for a reasonable period where necessary for legal, security, billing, backup, dispute resolution, or compliance purposes.

Where Shopify sends a valid data deletion request, we will process that request in accordance with Shopify’s requirements and applicable law.

Please include the store domain and a clear description of the request.

We will review and respond to valid deletion requests within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable laws and Shopify requirements.

9. Shopify Mandatory Privacy Webhooks

Apex Subscriptions is designed to comply with Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhook requirements where applicable, including requests related to:

Customer data access
Customer data deletion
Shop data deletion after app uninstall

When we receive a valid privacy webhook from Shopify, we will process it in accordance with Shopify’s requirements and applicable law.

10. International Data Transfers

Depending on the merchant’s location and the service providers we use, information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where the merchant or customer is located.

Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.

11. Cookies and Tracking

The App may use cookies, session storage, or similar technologies where necessary for authentication, security, app functionality, and performance.

We do not use customer data collected through the App for unrelated advertising or resale.

12. Merchant Responsibilities

Merchants are responsible for their own privacy policies and for explaining to their customers how customer data is collected, used, and processed in connection with their Shopify store and installed apps.

Merchants should ensure that their own privacy policy accurately reflects their use of Apex Subscriptions and any other apps or services connected to their store.

13. Children’s Privacy

Apex Subscriptions is intended for use by Shopify merchants and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our App, legal requirements, Shopify requirements, or business practices.

When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the effective date at the top of the policy. Continued use of the App after changes are published means the updated Privacy Policy applies.
